Preventive Maintenance & Threat Removal

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".  An old saying that still rings true in the 21st Century...especially when we're talking about your PC.  Having the latest security updates from Microsoft, along with good virus protection can make all the difference.  Having regular visits (2 - 4 times per year) will keep your PC running it's best.  Talk to us about getting on a regular schedule.

Virus Removal

Ever get a virus or some adware in your PC?  Viruses can sometimes be destructive...and sometimes just annoying.  Even if you have the latest virus protection installed, clever programmers are lying awake at night trying to figure out ways to get past that security checkpoint.  When that happens, call TRC.  We have access to many different software utilities to thwart even the most clever threats so we can get you back up and running in no time.

Adware and Spyware (pop-ups)

Ever wonder why you get pop-ups about automobiles when you are surfing for apple pie recipes?  These annoyances are generally a direct result of "spyware".  In the beginning, spyware was supposed to be a good thing, it just got a bad name and became a way for programmers to collect data about your whereabouts on the web.

Personally, I like it when I go online to Sports Authority looking for socks and it pops-up to tell me that the golf balls I like are on sale (it knows from my historical purchases).  But when these programs get installed without your consent just from you visting a website, that's when things go bad.  Your PC slows down to a snail's pace and can sometimes render it unusable.

Small programs (generally known as malware) get installed on your PC and track your movements on the web.  That information is sent around the world to unscrupulous buyers who, in turn, sell that information to marketing companies.  Those companies then begin bombarding you with ads to buy software to remove the annoying pop-ups...ironic, isn't it?  Most people fall for it and end up buying something that they never needed in the first place.

Having a good utility program provided by www.lavasoft.com, www.symantec.com or www.mcafee.com can keep your PC "pop-up" free.  Some free pop-up protection is available within Microsoft's Internet Explorer, but these programs are designed to catch the things that slip through.
